How long to leave size 8 gauges in before moving up?

Well-founded wondering how long I should leave my 8 in before stretching to a 6. I've got a lot of associated answers from friends who have stretched and not sure...I've had in 8s for about a week.

No less than 2 weeks, but I would present leaving them in a month or so.
With smaller sizes you can go rather quickly, but as you go bigger the longer you will be in want of to wait.
You don't want a blow out or an infection.

At auction–an 8 gauge L.C. Smith… | Dogs and Doubles

L.C. Smith made very few 8 gauges – estimates diversify from 30-35. From what I’ve been gifted to find out, they made them from about 1895-1898 and every one was hammerless. T his guy here has several 8-guide L.C. Smiths, at least two in No. 2 grades .

Of all the dominating American makers, Parker made the most 8 gauges – hammerless and hammerguns- and Lefever made the fewest. Baker made a few, and Colt made at least one. A.H. Fox never made any.

Eight gauges worn to be very stock for wildfowl. They pushed a ton of work up and this made them supreme for swatting flocks of birds at a unceasingly a once – barely what a hawk huntress on the Chesapeake Bay wanted to do. Eight-weigh shotguns were outlawed for use on waterfowl in the US in the primordial 20th century.

BTW: if you have an 8 evaluate copy, or you be familiar with of any out there, please let me identify. I’m interested in purchasing one and will pay a finder’s fee for a attractive one.

I have one of these shotguns, an L.C. Smith 8 gage. Serial# 417XX. There are dates on the receiver Mar 29,83, July 13,86 and Oct 5,86 (sic) doubtlessly conspicuous dates. This serving has not been refinished. There is no dismal on the barrel (not persuaded there ever was). The receiver is enthusiasm treated (not tried what that is called) but is not as colorful as some pictures I have seen. The pedigree seems to be made from a squiffy class English walnut . It has some bumps and dings but is still very sound with no cracks or splits. Same for the foregrip. The numbers on all three parts are equivalent. The bores are refulgent but the upright side shows some chafing by firing, not rust. So, what do you have in mind?
